Citing a source within a source

Reference list/Bibliography

Your reference list/bibliography should only include the actual source you used.

In-text referencing

The in-text citation should include the original author’s surname and year followed by ‘cited in’ and the source details.

Example:

Esfandiari (1997* cited in Shirazi 2012, pp. 47-48) reports that Iranian women's movements have a long history.

*Esfandiari 1997 is the original author of the quoted information.

Referencing images that you use

Images do not need to be referenced in your bibliography, however it is important that you acknowledge the source of all images. The link to your source should be provided directly under the image.
