2. Referencing Guide: Religion sources

The St Clare's College Referencing Guide follows the Harvard Referencing Style

Information regarding this guide

This page will provide you information on referencing and in-text referencing Religion sources in the following categories:

Tips when referencing Religion sources:

  • NRSV is the preferred version of the Bible at St Clare's College (both in print and online)

  • When referencing a Pope, use the Pope's name as the author in the reference list, do not include the title "Pope".

  • If directly quoting a text found online, use paragraph number (para.) in place of page number, e.g. (John Paul II, 2003, para. 3)

  • The following are some common abbreviations for church documents:

    • CCC    Catechism of the Catholic Church

    • CST    Catholic Social Teaching

    • CSD Compendium of the Social Doctrine of the Catholic Church

  • The first time a church document is cited in your work it must be referred to in full.  The following citations can use the abbreviation.
