Task Overview

Practical Investigation

For an expectant mother, there are scarcely more important considerations than those relating to the health of her unborn child. Almost all expecting parents spend considerable time Googling the do’s and don’ts of pregnancy; exercise, what to eat, what not to eat, drinking, smoking and safe medications are all topics researched and frequently discussed at home.

You have recently won a position on a research team and have been tasked with reporting on maternal factors relating to birthweight. Please use one of the data sets available to you to determine the relationship between your chosen maternal factor and birthweight. From the results generated, determine the expected outcomes for offspring of each population, and discuss the impact these outcomes could have on these offspring throughout their lifespan.
