Turnitin is an internet based plagiarism detection service. It helps to manage potential academic misconduct by highlighting similarities to the world’s largest collection of internet, academic and student paper content.

Guide to using Turnitin

Enabling Turnitin submission in SEQTA Teach

Teachers can enable submission of assessment via Turnitin assessments by editing the settings on the assessment in SEQTA. To do this teachers will need to access the class’ programme, and go to the overview of assessments tab. From here the settings of individual assessments can be changed to enable Turnitin submission (as shown below).

When you turn this tab to 'on' you will be redirected to the Turnitin website and asked to enter details of your assessment, including the title and dates.
 
Turnitin submissions can be viewed through the link in the 'overview of assessments' in SEQTA.

Turnitin Draft Coach

Turnitin Draft Coach™ helps students improve their academic writing and research skills by providing instant feedback in the Word document they are writing in.

Draft Coach highlights grammar and citation mistakes and provides explanations to help students edit and deepen their understanding. It also provides up to three similarity reports prior to submission. 

Turnitin Draft Coach is available in Word through Office365 as shown below.

Enabling Turnitin Draft Coach

Turnitin Draft Coach must be enabled before it is accessible through Word in Office365. Follow the instructions below to enable Turnitin Draft Coach.

1. Open a Word document in Office365

2. Click 'Insert' and then the three dots.

3. Click 'Add-ins'

 

 

4. Click 'ADMIN MANAGED' then 'Turnitin Draft Coach'

5. Click 'Add'

Turnitin Draft Coach should now be available.
