Task Overview

With reference to the assigned stimulus and your own research, you are to create a report based upon the threats posed by international crime on Australian security and regional stability.

You are to choose ONE focus area for your report from the following:

  • Illegal drugs
  • Money laundering
  • Human trafficking
  • Counterfeit goods
  • Illegal fishing

Your report should include the following as your headings:

  1. Outline the focus area chosen, including the scale of chosen area of international crime.
  2. Reference relevant laws, (national/international) that relate to your chosen area of crime, as well as actions taken nationally and internationally to deal with your chosen area of international crime.
  3. Evaluate the effectiveness of laws/government agencies in dealing with your chosen area of international crime, and the implications of this for national and regional security and stability
  4. Analyse the role of law in encouraging cooperation and resolving conflict in your chosen area of international crime.
  5. Referencing: refer to the College Referencing Guide. Use in-text references and include a reference list that reflects the use of a variety of reliable academic sources.
  6. Apply specific supporting evidence throughout your response. Include a minimum of two relevant supporting cases and use key terms and concepts.
