English Guides: Ideas that Matter - TedTalk

Task Overview

You have been invited to create and share a 6-8 minute video with a global TEDxTalk virtual conference for 16-20 year olds. The conference is titled Ideas that Matter Now.

In consultation with your teacher:

1.Choose an “idea that matters now” that will interest this wide audience.

2.Establish your connection to your chosen topic. This could be achieved with anecdotes.

3.Present an investigation in the style of a TEDxTalk about your selected social issue that demonstrates you have completed relevant research and have included different perspectives.

4.Your goal is to create an engaging, thought-provoking presentation that educates your audience and invites them to take a position on your topic. This means your topic may not necessarily have a clear solution.

5.Optional: your TEDx Talk maybe supported by visuals(PowerPoint, Prezi, etc.) to engage the audience.

Your Research:

You are required to support your research with a bibliography of at least 8 sources. Your research must present multiple perspectives of your selected topic to show an investigation/ research.

Your Presentation:

You are to film and edit your TEDxTalk using simple editing software (i.e. iMovie, Windows Movie Maker). You MUST save your video and your bibliography as a SEQTA E file in the assessment submission box on the due date. It is your responsibility to ensure that it can be viewed using the College’s software.
