History Guides: Brochure on Archaeological Site

Task Overview

Research one of the listed archaeological sites and present your information as a brochure.   

  • Nauwalabila and Madjedbebe (Australia)
  • Angkor Wat (Cambodia) 
  • Peking Man site at Zhoukoudian near Beijing (China) 
  • Lascaux Cave (France) 
  • Knossos (Crete/Greece) 
  • Olympia (Greece)
  • Colosseum (Rome)

What you have to research and include on your brochure: 

  1. A clear title of your chosen site and your name 
  2. A timeline indicating some of the main events that have taken place at your chosen site. You may need to make choices as to what you include. 
  3. A small map which indicates the location of your site 
  4. A general description of what has been uncovered at the site. This will include artefacts, structures and sometimes, human remains.  
  5. A detailed description of ONE ARCHAEOLOGICAL SOURCE from the site; this may be an artefact, structure or human remains. Include an image of the source, from where it came, a description of its appearance and how it was used. (150-175 words)  
  6. An explanation of what this site tells us about the past. This is to use key terms and must be between 400-450 words in length. You can include information about:
    When did people live there?
    What does the site tell us about the people who lived there?
    What technology did the people use?
    What was their society like? (such as how was it structured?).
    Explain how your site has changed over time (how has it changed and why has it changed?) 

A reference list (Harvard style) referenced correctly, and submitted through SEQTA on the day you submit your task. Use the College Referencing Guide to ensure you are formatting your reference list correctly.
