The Arts Guides: Visual Arts in Context - Research Task

Task Overview

Assume the identity of your chosen artist and complete their journal as he/she creates a significant art work (see list above).  Use formal writing and narrative style in the first person that illustrates analysis of context – social, historical, personal and/or cultural contexts.  

  • Model your response on a diary format, that includes a minimum of four entries – one prior to creating the piece, two during the creative process and one after the piece is finished.  

  • Each entry should be approximately 250 words (T) or 200 words (A) 

  • Each entry should include a sketch or illustration in the style of the artist and must be referred to in the text 

  • Annotated bibliography must be included that references why source was used; minimum of 4 references required for Accredited Task; minimum of 8 references required for Tertiary Task
