Task Overview

In this task you will be creating a creative and informative PowerPoint presentation about a landscape in the world, using the template provided.

You will choose ONE landscape to research and a specific example of that landscape outside Australia.  

You will investigate:  

  • background information on this landscape 

  • a threat to the landscape and propose a solution to this threat 

You will also write and answer at least three questions about your landscape and research to find answers to these questions. 

Finally, you will answer reflection questions and include a bibliography with the sources you have used in your research.

Designing effective presentation slides

When designing presentation slides, it is important to find a balance between keeping the interest of your audience and maintaining their attention, while not distracting them from your key message.

Use the tips below to help design effective presentation slides:

  • Create a consistent and simple design template.
  • Avoid slides with a lot of text.
  • Avoid the use of flashy transitions such as text fly-ins. These features may seem impressive at first, but are distracting and get old quickly.
  • Use good quality images that reinforce and complement your message.
  • Use the template provided by your teacher to help structure your presentation.

Getting Started and Research tips

Search tip

When searching for savannah keep in mind that savanna is the usual spelling in American English, while savannah is preferred in all the other main varieties of English. If you're using an American database or search engine try savanna without the h.

National Geographic

Use the search tab in National Geographic to search for your chosen landscape. They have a great video series called 101 on each landscape too. See the examples below.
